The Great Commission

The last recorded words of Jesus as He ascended into Heaven are found in Matthew 28:19-20.

19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.  And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Holly Brook Baptist Church believes that being a part of the Southern Baptist Convention and the Baptist General Convention of Texas gives us the opportunity to fulfill this Great Commission.

  • The Cooperative Program

The financial fuel for reaching every person for Jesus Christ in every town, every city, every state, and every nation.  It is SBC-affiliated churches giving to a single fund so that the gospel can be spread where we can not reach alone.

The Southern Baptist Convention uses our monies collected through the Cooperative Program to support missionaries both in North American and throughout the world. (sbc.net)

The Baptist General Convention of Texas also receives a portion of our Cooperative Program monies to support Texas missionaries and works with other Human Care Ministries within the state. (texasbaptist.org)

A portion of all the monies given to the church is given to the Cooperative Program.

  • Harmony-Pittsburg Baptist Association

Connects the churches in the local counties (example: Wood, Upshur) to help share the love of Jesus.  One of the ways we are locally connected is being actively involved in the Association’s Texas Baptist Men chainsaw and flood/fire recovery units. (harmonypittsburg.com) A portion of all the monies given to the church is given to the Harmony Pittsburg Association.

  • Texas Baptist Men

We have several men and women that are active in the Texas Baptist Men. (tbmtx.org). They serve on the chainsaw untis, flood/fire recovery units, feeding team units, and IMT. A portion of all the monies given to the church is given to the Texas Baptist Men.

If you are interested in serving in this area, please contact Bruce Slaven through the church office.
